Sri Satyanarayana Puja is performed on the full moon and for auspicious occasions like marriages, blessing a new home, birthdays, or opening a new business. It is believed to bestow good health, prosperity, success, and happiness on those who practice it
our faith anf believe is that listening to the katha or story and performing the puja will help them fulfil their desires, that it will bring prosperity, remove fear and free them from bondage. While emotional and sincere chanting of the katha has been known to bring positive results, they are more the result of a true understanding and implementation of the essence and complete message of the katha, rather than the fruits of the ritual itself.
Sri Satyanarayan vrat katha comprises five chapters, with a clear message that the followers of Sri Satyanarayan Bhagwan must lead the life of truthfulness both in deed and word. The katha begins with the Lord explaining to sage Narada the right way to lead one's life. The second chapter focuses on the reformation of a woodcutter who, thirsty on a sunny day, accidentally walks into the house of a Brahmin and watches him performing the puja. On being asked why he was performing the ritual, the Brahmin explains the secret of his 'wealth' to the stranger, motivating the woodcutter to vow that he too, would perform the puja after completing his business for the day. The woodcutter achieves significantly higher sales on that day and performs the puja with great sincerity. The Satyanarayan puja performed with clear understanding and bhaav channels our mind to good thoughts, helping us overcome negative thoughts, and deeds.
